## Methodology

Share of initial MOT tests resulting in a pass (P or PRS), from DVSA's anonymised test extract, for class 4 vehicles — cars and light vans. Retests are excluded — see the ranked graph for why. London here means the eight postal areas wholly inside the city (E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W, WC); the twelve fringe areas that straddle the boundary are deliberately left out of this line rather than quietly inflating it, which does mean this London is the postal district and not Greater London. Great Britain is every class 4 initial test in the extract; DVSA tests Great Britain only, as Northern Ireland is administered separately.
