## Methodology

Wildlife occurrence records within 25km of Charing Cross, pooled by the NBN Atlas from local record centres and national recording schemes. A record means someone saw something and wrote it down, which makes this a map of observation as much as of nature: parks with active recording groups light up, and a species counts as common when it is common, easy to identify and interesting enough to report. A sample of the most recent records is drawn.
